Single trip and annual travel insurance ensures peace of mind.

This article is regarding Travel Insurance, which is an attempt to minimize the financial risks, which can crop up, due to unpredictable circumstances while travelling.

Although there are different types of Travel Insurances, with different specifications, we can broadly distinguish them as 'Single trip insurance' and 'Annual multi trip insurance'. Annual Multi trip insurance is advisable for frequent fliers. It covers multiple trips taken during a span of 1 year. This scheme is usually taken by international businessmen, and people who love to travel. When you have this type of insurance, you don't have to worry about getting last minute insurance cover, in emergency. On the other hand, Single round trip insurance is cheaper and is a better option for people who plan their trips. If you're a student and planning to backpack across Europe, get yourself a Single round trip insurance. Other special schemes are there for Senior citizens. One notable insurance cover is the Extreme sports insurance. This type of insurance covers dangerous adventure sports like skiing, scuba diving, white water rafting etc. As of now, there are not many providers for this service in India.

The terms which are usually covered in policies are Emergency Repatriation / evacuation, medical expenses pertaining to disablement or death incurred due to injury during the trip, overseas funeral, expenses due to cancelled or delayed flights, and loss, theft, or damage to possessions.

The terms which are usually not covered in policies are illness or disease with which a person is suffering from, before he/she buys the policy, deliberately putting your life in danger, Claims involving alcohol and drugs, Claims involving ST D's like AIDS, and illegal activities.

Don't just believe the hype or buy a policy your aunt had bought. There are many websites which give you price quotes by different companies, and compare them for you and get your trip insured.

Is Travel Insurance essential

Travel insurance is probably the last thing on your mind while planning a trip.Well if you have no clue about it,it can turn out to be the most important thing to have in a crisis situation.
I am not trying to sell the concept – it sells itself. What would you prefer if something goes wrong - getting access to proper and adequate facilities in case of a mis-happening or a frantic bid to arrange money?
No one carries enough cash for medical treatment, transport (in case proper treatment for a specific problem is not available) and for daily medical expenses at the hospital. If you have a travel insurance all this would be taken care of and you can focus all your energies to the problem at hand.
How many of us end up loosing our belongings while on a holiday? Did you know that you can claim compensation for your lost belongings if you are smart enough to get a travel insurance?
Its not just about medical treatment or compensation, the cover can be for more than that. If you miss your flight or if your flight gets cancelled, your trip is interrupted (due to work or family problems) or for hotel stays in case of missed flights. Travel insurance is probably the first and the most important thing to get before planning your trip.
If you are planning a trip without a travel insurance-think AGAIN.

About Travel Insurance

It is always recommended that you insure yourself before traveling by purchasing the travel insurance. Having travel insurance ensures you the peace of mind and security that one needs during traveling. There are numerous insurance agencies that offer travel insurance that is tailored to suit your travel plan.

Single trip insurance is recommended if you are not a frequent traveler. Purchasing a policy that covers only the trip you are taking means you avoid paying for extra days that you will not be using. A single trip policy also allows you to tailor your policy to the exact type of trip you are taking. The advantage for annual multi trip insurance is that you are covered for every trip you make within the year. This is very useful for frequent travelers as it often works out cheaper than paying single trip insurance every time you travel. This is a good option for travelers who take advantage of last minute travel deals and those who travel more than 3 times a year.

Most policies have exemption clauses for matters concerning business, meaning you are unable to claim if you are injured while working abroad or for the loss of business documents or equipment which belong to your company.  Thus it is better to have business trip travel insurance if you are going to work abroad. For longer term travelers like backpackers and gap year students it is recommended that they purchase the backpackers travel insurance that generally provides long term coverage that will enable you to stay safely covered for the length of your trip.

If you are traveling abroad for a skiing, snowboarding or general winter sports holiday you may find yourself exempted from several areas of a typical travel insurance policy. Expensive items such as sporting equipment will not usually be covered as standard and certainly not if you are renting the equipment thus it is recommended to have ski insurance before you set out for your sporting activities.

Take advantage of the various useful kinds of travel insurances being announced by major travel insurance companies and travel without worries!
